The Ferry
The Port Aransas Ferry System operated by the Texas Department of Transportation provides FREE transportation service seven days a week, twenty-four hours a day. The short ride connects Mustang Island and Port Aransas with the mainland via Aransas Pass. The number of ferry boats in service at any time depends on demand. Two new larger vessels have been added to the fleet, each capable of carrying 28 passenger vehicles. This now provides eight boats to bring visitors to and from Port A. During peak hours, especially during holidays and summer months, some travelers may experience a wait while the ferry makes the trip back and forth across the channel. A 24-hour radio message advisory (AM 530) provides information on ferry regulations and can be used for live broadcasts in case of emergencies. Wait time links along with live ferry cams are located below. A total overall length (for combined vehicles such as a car and boat) is 85 feet. The maximum width allowed is 96 inches. A maximum of 13 feet 6 inches in height is allowed. Peak months are June, July and August, however, the winter months can be busy with our influx of "Winter" residents.

The Trolley Shuttle and Flexi B Bus
The Port Aransas Shuttle travels daily through the city. Whether you're up for a morning of shopping, relaxing at your favorite restaurant for lunch, or spending a lazy afternoon at the beach, the shuttle can get you there and back in air-conditioned comfort! All the main streets and several side streets leading to the beach are served and the entire route is repeated every hour, from the first stop at about 10:00 a.m. to the last one at about 6:00 p.m. Remember, we are on 'Island Time,' so the times may vary slightly, depending on the season. Catch the shuttle at designated locations or just give one a wave and climb aboard anywhere along our route.
