Chris Corpus, Director of Conservation
Chris Corpus, Director of Conservation - Chris Corpus oversees the Dallas Zoo’s strategy for conservation and community impact. In addition to the conservation work of the Dallas Zoo, Chris serves on several boards and committees of conservation organizations, with a particular focus on reducing wildlife crime like poaching and wildlife trafficking. He is the Vice-Chair of the Wildlife Conservation Committee at the Association of Zoos & Aquariums, a steering committee member of the Wildlife Trafficking Alliance, and a member of the IUCN's Nature Crime Alliance. Chris also proudly serves as a board member for the International Crane Foundation and a member of the Texas Crane Council.

In 2023, the Dallas Zoo's Whooping Crane Center of Texas successfully raised and released its first Whooping crane in the wild, named Levi. Though Levi sadly lost his life to poachers, our work has continued, and multiple Whooping crane chicks were successfully raised at the Center in 2024! Join us for an update on efforts to expand our breeding & rearing facility, our broadening partnerships with other accredited zoological facilities, and the heartwarming stories of the chicks hatched at the Center in 2024!
