David Barr Dunham is Vice President /Development of Texas Monthly. A graduate of the University of Texas at Austin with a B.A. in English, he joined the staff of Texas Monthly in 1979. 

Dunham is a past chairman of the board of directors of the Texas Travel Industry Association, past president of the board of directors of the Austin Convention and Visitors Bureau, and past president of the board of directors of Caritas of Austin, a human services agency dealing with Austin’s homeless and needy.

He was a 1991 recipient of the Distinguished Service Award from the City of Austin, a recipient of Adweek Magazine’s Texas Media Hall of Fame, and was honored by the Texas Travel Industry Association in 2014 with its Lifetime Achievement Award, an award given to Texans who have made a lasting and significant contribution to the travel industry.

Dunham has also served on the board of the Headliners Foundation, Texas Conservation Coalition, and as Junior Warden of the Vestry of Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, as well as the board of trustees of the Witte Museum, the U.T. Marine Science Institute Advisory Council, and the board of the Tom Lea Institute,. The proud father of Hayden, Will, and Patrick, he and his wife Cathy live in San Marcos.
