Senior Editor of Travel, Outdoor, and Service, Texas Monthly
Emma Balter is Texas Monthly's senior editor of travel, outdoors, and service journalism, including the Dining Guide. She was previously the editor in chief of Houstonia, where she led a team that won the magazine’s first City and Regional Magazine Awards in a decade. She also served as the food editor of Chron, a features reporter for the Houston Chronicle, and an associate editor at Wine Spectator. She graduated from Poynter’s prestigious Leadership Academy for Women in Media in 2024 and sits on the James Beard Restaurant & Chef Committee. Emma has been a proud Houstonian since 2020.
