You don't have to leave the shore to reel in a keeper! 

Port Aransas is known as the “Fishing Capital of Texas,” but that doesn't mean you need a boat to join in on the fun. Several piers offer access to amazing fishing just off the banks of Port A. Get in on the action without setting up a charter or worrying about getting seasick. Just bring your fishing pole, bait, and a good attitude!

Horace Caldwell Pier

This pier is the most well-known pier in Port Aransas. Most people think of the Horace Caldwell Pier when they think of fishing, as it is one of the most popular fishing locations on the island. This pier is large, jutting 1,240 feet out into the Gulf of Mexico, making you feel like you are one with the ocean when you stand at the end. You can expect to find tarpon, red and black drum, a variety of catfish, spotted seatrout, as well as blacktip and bonnethead sharks. This pier is the only one on the beach in Port A, giving you a unique one-of-a-kind experience. No need to worry about bringing your fishing pole. You can rent poles here for just $4 per pole. Fishing will only cost you $3 per person to enjoy a full day of fishing and fun under the sun. 

Pier at Roberts Point

Roberts Point Pier offers both amazing views and great fishing. Watch as boats leave the marina and head out to sea or as ships travel through the channel. This is the perfect spot to relax and enjoy the spectacular sights you can only see in Port Aransas while you toss in a line and try your luck at fishing. This pier is in a unique spot to catch fish because it is located along the ship channel, where many different species of fish pass through. This pier is free to access. No need to worry about fees, just bring your fishing pole and cast your line while you have a good time. 

Ancel Burndrett Pier

On the north end of the island, you can find the Ancel Burndrett Pier. The pier is known by locals at Station St. Pier due to it being located beside Cline's Landing on Station St. The 167.5-foot-long pier has a great view of the Lydia Ann Lighthouse which is one of the 8 Wonders of Port Aransas. Get more than you bargained for at this hidden gem on the island. 

Charlie's Pasture Fishing Pier 

Check out the newest pier on the list that is off the beaten path in Port A. This pier offers both a relaxing tranquil environment and a perfect spot to try your luck at fishing. Not only is this located along the ship channel but also the Nature Preserve at Charlie's Pasture. Watch as large ships pass through the channel and nature flourishes. This pier gives you a one-of-a-kind experience and is the perfect location to watch the sunset as dolphins swim through the sea.

Be sure to bring your fishing license or stop by IGA Family Center to purchase one before you head out on your adventure. You can even bring your fresh catch to a local eatery and have them cook it up, just the way you like it, while you sit back and enjoy dining waterside.
