Bring your healthy habits on vacation with you!

Is it possible to enjoy your vacation while maintaining your health and fitness goals? Yep! It sure is. In Port Aransas, there are tons of fun options for keeping up with your fitness goals while enjoying your time on the island. Here are five fun and easy ways to stay fit in Port A.

1. Go for a walk

A walk on the Port Aransas beach is a great, low-impact aerobic exercise. Walk barefoot for an added bonus because your foot sinks into the surface so tendons, ligaments, and muscles all work harder. This is also a great way to get grounded! Park your car at Horace Caldwell Pier and walk towards the south jetty and back for a relaxing walk that you can log in at a little over a mile (1.2 miles).

2. Yoga

Treat your mind and body with sun salutations in the sand. Meet on the beach near the Horace Caldwell Pier on the second Saturday of the month at 8 a.m. for a free yoga lesson with instructor instructor Nancy Myers. Bring a mat or towel suitable for the beach.

Don’t want to get your mat sandy? Head to the pavilion at the Nature Preserve at 12:30 p.m. every Tuesday for a free yoga lesson with Selena. You can also breathe, stretch, and unwind with Selena during yoga sessions at the Aransas Princess events room. These relaxing classes are suitable for all skill levels and are designed to help you recharge and rejuvenate.

Don't miss out on The Studio, a yoga and wellness studio offering weekly group classes, monthly workshops, and private appointments. The Studio is a restorative space focused on supporting residents, visitors, and the community's well-being.

5. Golf

The game of golf was born on rugged, wind-swept land similar to the coastline of Mustang Island. Every hole, every hazard, every shot at Palmilla Beach Golf was meticulously considered to take full advantage of the land and elements indigenous to the area. As the elements change, so does the course. It’s all part of this great game as it was meant to be played. Holes 4, 5, and 6 showcase spectacular views of the beach and Gulf!

Creativity quickly becomes an asset as you face multiple options on nearly every shot. Consistent with the traditions of links golf, controlling ball trajectory and adjusting to varying slopes and conditions is more important than raw power. Book a tee time now.

The most important thing to keep in mind is to have fun! Whether it's a slow walk down the beach or building a burn at the gym, moving your body in a way that feels right for you is the best way to reach your fitness goals. Enjoy relaxation, fun, and healthy living on your next trip to Port Aransas.
