Amy Bjarnason

Amy Bjarnason helps destination leaders around the world use tourism as a force for community wellbeing. Drawing on a background in public practice accounting before moving into tourism in 2010, she brings a unique combination of business strategy, governance, financial acumen, and destination stewardship to her work.

After more than seven years with Tourism Whistler as Market Development Manager, Amy joined Destination Think in 2018. Today, she helps lead and design The Collective - Destination Think's global community of more than 40 destination organizations working together to advance stewardship and sustainability through tourism. Members span five continents and include destinations such as Copenhagen, Aruba, Hawaiʻi, Queenstown, Bend, Banff, Tofino, and many others. Through peer learning, collaboration, and the sharing of practical solutions, the Collective helps destination leaders tackle complex challenges while creating thriving communities.

Working closely with this international network gives Amy a front-row seat to some of the world's most innovative destination initiatives - from community stewardship and regenerative tourism to resident wellbeing, climate action, and visitor management. She regularly convenes destination leaders to exchange ideas, identify emerging trends, and accelerate solutions that create lasting impact.

Amy has also contributed to destination strategies across North America, Oceania, and the Caribbean, including work with Destination British Columbia, Queenstown, Cape Breton, Tofino, Hauraki Coromandel, the Cook Islands, Revelstoke, and Tourism Winnipeg.

A lifelong advocate for sustainability, Amy received the University of Victoria Environmental Project of the Year Award for her leadership and contributions to environmental initiatives at both the community and regional levels.
